The REN21 Renewables Interactive Map offers a user focused platform for displaying information depicting the development of renewables worldwide. Information presented within the Map is compiled from a variety of reports, databases, news announcements, specific enquiries with official authorities, and other sources. These sources are used to provide the most accurate and up to date information on renewables policies, targets, shares, installed capacity, production, scenarios, and policy pledges.

The search features of the Map are designed to allow for the easiest possible access to the sought after information. The Map allows for searches by technology or sector through the search window found at the bottom of the map, or by the selection of a specific country or world region through the World Region tab.

Technology or Sector Approach

1. Select Search by Technology or Search by Sector
   •  Search by Technology opens the search window allowing for the selection of a specific technology you want to display on the map from the list provided (Step 1) (i.e. Solar PV, Wind, Bioenergy, etc.).
   •  Search by Sector opens the search window allowing for the selection of a specific sector you wish to display on the map from the list provided (Step 1) (i.e. Electricity, Heating/Cooling, Transport, etc.).
2. Select Topic
   •  Narrow down the information you wish to see displayed on the map by selecting a specific topic and subsequent sub-topic form the list provided (Step 2) (i.e. Policies, Targets, Shares, etc.).
3.  Country Results
   • All countries matching your search criteria will be displayed in alphabetical order within the country results window (Step 3) as well as highlighted on the map. Selection of a country by either method will open the Country Profile box providing the information specific to your search.
4.  New Search
   •  To perform a new search click the New Search tab in the bottom right corner of the screen. This selection will clear your previous search criteria and return you to Step 1.
     

Geographical Approach

To search by country or world region simply select the World Regions tab and chose from the drop down menu which opens below. Countries can also be selected by clicking their location on the map. The mini-map tool below the World Regions tab controls the display features of the larger map allowing you to zoom in and out as well as adjust the geographical focal point of the map.
